Ultrasound equipment to test and improve English pronunciation
In the last few weeks we've participated in two meetings:
One was at the Primeras Jornadas metodológicas sobre adquisición y fonética de la L2 at the University of the Basque Country in Vitoria-Gasteiz, June 24, where our Martí i Franqués student Cristina Crison demonstrated the use of the equipment.
The second was at the XI Ultrasound Imaging for Speech and Language Conference, held at Aizu University, in Aizuwakamatsu, Japan, June 24-25, where both Cristina Crison and our doctoral student Daniel Romero also participated.

Carmen Rueda retires
Carmen holds a degree in Filologia Anglogermànica (Anglès), from the Universitat de Barcelona and completed her Ph.D. in American Literature from the Universitat de Barcelona in 2001.
Her research has been on the literature of the American South, contemporary Appalachian literature, English for Specific Purposes, and new technologies applied to foreign language teaching.
In 2010 she held a Fulbright Scholarship to study music in Contemporary Appalachian Fiction
In addition to numerous articles and book chapters, Carmen has authored or co-authored a series of books:

Stratapp - The Art of Reading on TV!
Professors Mar Gutiérrez-Colón and Ester Torres, both from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV), appeared on the TV programme The Weekly Mag, where they introduced the StratApp - The Art of Reading app.

The Master’s in Professional Translation (English-Spanish) has obtained the European Master’s in Translation quality label for MA university programmes in translation.
